Pat is from Laragh and has been working at the family run Hotel in Glendalough all his life. As Managing Director of Glendalough Hotel he has provided 70 jobs for the Wicklow tourist industry. He has extensive community work experience being a founder of the award winning Brockagh Resource Centre, a board member of County Wicklow Partnership and a lifelong member of Laragh GAA to name but a few of the community organisations Pat has worked with.
Pat began his political life in 2004 when he successfully ran for Wicklow County Council in the Wicklow Local Electoral Area. He has served as Chairperson of the Council in 2012/13, and has been centrally involved in the development of the economic plan for Wicklow (LECP), and the Local Community and Development Committee (LCDC)where he was its first chairperson.
Pat was elected to Dáil Eireann in the General Election of 2016. He was appointed Fianna Fáil Spokesperson for Housing and Urban Renewal and has been concentrating on providing solutions to Irelands Housing Crisis through his membership of the Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government Committee.
Pat is married to Sonia Shortt and enjoys hill walking in Wicklow when time permits!
